working to give London's homeless a better Christmas

Volunteering to help

The London Mobile Christmas Service is run entirely by unpaid volunteers.

We need approximately 150 person days of work over the Christmas period, and will be advertising for volunteers towards the end of October.

We work in small teams of fewer than 10 where there is scope to use your own initiative. During the running period (24-29 December) we require volunteers to work a minimum of two days. Shifts during this period start at 10 am and finish at 4 pm.

We need help during the Christmas week at our day centres and headquarters and sometimes help before and after Christmas preparing and cleaning up

At a day centre

You will turn up for duty before the day centre opens (usually 10 am).

During the day, you could be doing any of the following tasks: cooking, serving food, making and serving tea, cleaning the centre, first aid (if applicable), hairdressing (if applicable), and most importantly providing warmth and companionship for our guests. The day ends by 4:00pm.
